Why China?
The Need & Opportunity
- Entrepreneurship and private sector growth has been the
engine for China’s economic development
- Participation of poor communities in the private sector
growth has been limited
- Serious social ills exacerbated by widening income inequality,
environmental degradation and loss of social safety net
 |
Despite the need and opportunity,
social entrepreneurship is still at its infant stages
in China due to the following binding constraints:
- Poor understanding of the concept
- Lack of home-grown examples
- Lack of capital
- Lack of expertise
